The Youth Symphony Orchestra has announced the opening of registrations for the “SymphoΠedia” music education programme, which will operate during the 2026-27 educational period. The programme is scheduled to begin on Saturday, 3 October.
According to an announcement, the programme is aimed at children aged 7 to 12 and seeks to support their first musical socialisation through a comprehensive cycle of music practice in ensembles, with teachers selected through a competition.
Participants will develop cooperation and orchestral co-existence skills, while also taking part in concerts and other activities. They will join percussion, brass, woodwind or strings groups, a rhythmic education class, a music theory class, as well as a vocal workshop and the children’s choir of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Any child from anywhere in Cyprus may take part in the programme, provided they have attended lessons in a symphonic instrument or piano for at least one year at any institution, organisation or conservatory. Participation is compulsory for all scholarship holders of the CYSO Academy aged 7 to 12.
Lessons will take place every Saturday, from 9:30 to 13:30, at Acropolis Lyceum in Nicosia. Free transportation by the orchestra’s buses is offered to children from other cities.
Registrations will remain open until Monday, 21 September, while tuition fees are set at 50 euros per month.
